Introduction to certification
Subtel (subseecretaria de telecommunications) is Chile's telecommunications regulatory authority. Products involving radio frequency, cellular network or satellite technology need to be approved and certified for commercialization in Chile.

If the equipment can be classified into these technical categories, a certification certificate will be issued after obtaining a certificate of conformity from a registered testing agency in Chile. If the equipment cannot be classified into these categories, the manufacturer must obtain "special authorization" from Subtel to commercialize the equipment.
